Sleepless in New York

Sleepless in New York is a consoling documentary about an inconsolable topic: the crash after love. People, surrounded by the big city landscape, are contemplating the tragedy of being dumped and the difficulty of letting go. The main characters find themselves on the brink of desperation which wakes them up at night, causes physical pain and turns normal people into obsessed stalkers. Only the passing time can answer the painful questions of “Why, why, fucking why”.

Anthropologist Helen Fisher explains the addiction to another human being with the help of science: brain chemistry causes us to find ourselves in a conflicting state and even if we would want to hate or to forget, we will only love even more. The researcher finds herself doubting whether nature might have moulded the emotional experience related to love into something too strong.

This film can be recommended to everyone who has once been in love, without love or looking for love – to absolutely everyone, that is.
