Bronx Obama

In 2008, unemployed Louis Ortiz learns about his big-eared doppelganger who is running for the White House. Ortiz is only a shave away from starting a new career as an Obama impersonator.

The Bronx Obama embarks on a comedic 2012 election rally from the tourist-laden Times Square with a slightly bloated ”Bill Clinton”. As President Barack Obama competes against his Republican adversary Mitt Romney, the comedy tour turns into a face-off between look-alikes. The presidential selection resolves which one continues his career as the president’s dublicate. The other one joins the dole queue.

The life of a look-a-like isn’t easy: work won’t make you rich, like it did back in Clinton days. The manager doesn’t hold back his punches, and the backseat of a car is the only time and place to memorise lines. The Clinton impersonator complains about his extra weight, lack of discipline and resembling more Boris Yeltsin than Clinton.

Ortiz would like to buy her daughter a new pair of basketball sneakers, so there’s no way to turn down work. Will life on the road pay off more than complimentary hotel soaps?

The doppelganger may not be living the American dream, but perhaps it’s Obama’s policies and social security that have enabled Ortiz to get an education and re-attach to society.
